NOVA v0.16.0
What's New
Creating a Game
- Setting up a new game is now a quick, guided three-step flow — name it, choose the map, set the pace — instead of one long form.
- Every game starts with a ready-made name you can keep, edit, or reroll with a tap, so your games are always easy to tell apart.
- New games are private by default: only people you invite can join. Flip to Public any time to let anyone find and join from the games list.
- Pick a galaxy size — Small, Medium, or Large — instead of counting stars, and use the plus/minus stepper to set how many commanders play.
Setting the Pace
- The pace step now shows exactly what you're getting: how many production cycles the game will run and how often they land (for example, "about one every 3 hours").
- Fine-tune speed with a simple factor where 1.0 is the standard amount of game — turn it down for a more relaxed campaign or up to pack in more action, without changing how long the game lasts.
Inviting Friends to a Private Game
- When you create a private game, NOVA shows a Share screen with a scannable QR code, the join code, and a shareable link you can send in a text with one tap.
- The same QR, code, and link appear on the game's join screen for everyone already in it, so any commander can pass the invite along — not just the host.
Joining and Your Games
- The Join screen now lists forming games at a glance; tap one to open it and claim your seat and home world.
- Your games are grouped by what needs attention — games still collecting players, your active games, and finished ones tucked away — and live games now have a clear Enter game button.
- Saved maps are listed in alphabetical order when you're picking one for a new game.
Opening an Invite
- Tapping a join link (like
novagame.app/j/K7PQ9R) on your phone now opens NOVA straight to that game's join screen, with the code already filled in — no typing. - If you don't have the app yet, the link opens a web page where you can copy the code with a single tap or head to the App Store to install NOVA.
Finishing a Game
- When a game ends you now see a clear result — Victory, Tie, or Defeat — with the winning commander named.
- Ties are real: if two or more commanders finish level on the most stars, they share first place and every one of them is a winner. In the rare case where no one holds a star, the match simply has no winner.
- A final standings table ranks every commander by their living stars, with your own line highlighted; tied commanders share a rank. The standings are frozen the moment the game ends.
Polish
- Text across the app is brighter and easier to read.
- The build button that adds five factories now says so, instead of just "+ 5".
